I'm very excited to announce that a second edition of my book, Mastering DAX in Power BI, will be ready soon.
When I released the first edition, the goal was simple. I wanted to write a guide grounded in experience rather than abstraction. Over the years I have leaned heavily on DAX to solve genuine business problems, from forecasting sales and calculating customer lifetime value to applying the Pareto principle to find the products and customers that truly move the needle. Most learning resources skip these practical applications. I wanted to show how to translate a business question into a model that answers it honestly, using realistic examples with the Adventure Works dataset.
This new edition keeps that exact same practical focus but expands into a space that is completely transforming how we work. I have enriched the book with entirely new topics, focusing heavily on how I have utilised artificial intelligence in real business cases. I will be detailing how to use AI to automatically write reports based on your calculations in Power BI, as well as how to create custom visuals driven by AI. I have already shared some of these solutions here on the blog, and they will now be fully integrated and expanded upon in the book.
